Holiday Traditions

When I was a child, our Christmas tree process was this...

Dad would put up the lights. We(there were 5 of us) were not allowed to touch anything, because Daddy was a perfectionist and the lights had to be perfect.

Once the lights were up, then we were allowed to put up the bulbs and tinsel.

But the tinsel had to be put up one strand at a time. LOL!

Anyways... This particular year, Daddy checked the lights and they worked. So he unplugged them put them on the tree and plugged them in...no lights.

So he started the long process of checking each bulb to see which one was causing the others to not light up. Eventually he took all the lights off the tree.

Once he checked each bulb he plugged in again and they lit. Great!

So once again he put them on the tree...

Plugged them in....no lights.

This process went on for hours. My Dad was pretty irritated. Finally my Mom convinced him to stop trying for a while and we all went to the dining room table to eat dinner while the tree sat there sadly with no lit lights....

When all of a sudden they lite.

Guess what?!! They were blinkers!
